MidAtlantic’s Robert Larsen recently had the opportunity to support Rutgers University and Ron Ladell as a guest speaker to business students interested in learning more about real estate law. The topic of the class was local board approval processes (zoning and planning) and was focused on understanding the nuances of “C” and “D” variances and the dynamics of working with local ordinances as well as local professionals.
In Rob’s 4th year as a guest in this class, he was excited to continue to give back to his industry in a meaningful way. Guest speakers have the opportunity to share their expertise, experiences, and insights with the next generation of professionals. By teaching, you give back to your industry and help bridge the gap between theory and practice. You contribute to the growth and development of your field.
When asked about the opportunity, Rob said “it’s not a one-way street. You can learn from your students too – their fresh perspectives and questions are good reminders of why we do the work we do. The board approval process can be a complex and very nuanced process, so sharing experience is vital to the next generation.”
