Recently, the MidAtlantic Dive Team had the incredible opportunity to witness a piece of maritime history unfold right before our eyes!
While performing dive operations on the Delaware River, we found ourselves in the perfect position to witness the USS New Jersey being pulled from its mooring in Camden, NJ on its journey down to the Philadelphia Navy Yard dry dock for routine maintenance. It was a moment of serendipity that I will never forget.
Seeing this iconic battleship’s storied past and rich legacy being carefully maneuvered down the river was truly awe-inspiring. The coordination and precision required for such an operation were evident as tugboats and US Coast Guard personnel worked together seamlessly to ensure the safe passage of this historic vessel.
Being able to witness such a significant event was a reminder of the importance of our maritime heritage and the dedication of those who work tirelessly to preserve it. The USS New Jersey serves as a symbol of American naval power and the bravery of those who served aboard her.
We feel privileged to have been in the right place at the right time to witness this momentous occasion. It serves as a reminder of the diverse and rewarding experiences that come with a career in maritime operations.
